Some have called it a cut if you don’t want to be automatically logged into the service when you buy the console. Others have criticized it for its lack of content, as well as increased prices for what is already a fairly expensive piece of hardware. Is the PS Plus worth subscribing to?
If you do want to subscribe to the service, here are some things you will need to know to make sure you do not end up paying more than you should.
When you are initializing your membership application, you will need to select a plan that fits your gaming needs. You can choose from the Free or Silver options, all of which come with a month of free online service. Silver memberships do not expire, but you will only receive 10 free downloadable items for PS3. newcomers to PS Plus and those who are currently using a Gold will receive the PlayStation Move Starter Bundle. This includes the console, the EyePet motion controller, and the Sports Champions game which allows you to compete with the best players in the world.
You will also get the Jumpstart heartbeat sensor, which is a small device that will plug into the bottom of the box and provides you with feedback from your heart beat monitor. Jumpstart is expected to be released later this year.
You will also get the PlayStation Eye Camera and will be able to capture your own video clips and photos using the camera on your PS3.
Folks who are not members of the PS Plus beta will be offered the opportunity to apply for a free trial at PlayStation Plus. This offer, which is expected to last for 90 days, will allow you to test out the service and see how it works. If you do not receive it within the next few days, you will want to call the support line. Unfortunately, you will need to pay the fee to get your card emailed to you.
Please keep in mind that you will need to repeat this process every month or two in order to keep from losing your free month. If this is something that you do not want to have to do, you may want to keep from losing out on all of the Plus members that you already have. It is important to keep this in mind so that you do not pay for the service.
